IRON: CEMCO Iron Plates are painted using a high-pressure spray application with an Industrial Strength, Hammertone paint for more consistent coverage and a uniform finish. CEMCO plates are not dipped, an application process that typically produces an inconsistent finish. All CEMCO Iron products are chip-resistant, NOT chip-proof. Through regular use, scratches and chipping of the painted finish may occur, however this is considered normal wear. We recommend that rubber flooring be used.

RUBBER: CEMCO Rubber Plates, Dumbbells & Barbells are made with only the finest "Virgin" Rubber. There are no additives or waste that can sometimes cause odor and discoloring. No initial cleaning of our Rubber products will be necessary, however if you feel the need to clean the plates, we recommend a damp cloth only. DO NOT use any solvents or degreasers containing ammonia or alcohol. Cemco discourages the use of unprotected "Angle-Iron" Dumbbell Racks with Rubber Dumbbells and the use of "Spider" Racks for Rubber Plates. CEMCO Rubber products are not intended for use on concrete floors. Use of Rubber products on concrete flooring will void warranty. We recommend that rubber flooring be used.

STEEL: CEMCO Steel products can be cleaned using a clean, damp cloth. Wipe down heads only, taking care to dry thoroughly. Through regular use, scratches and chipping of the painted finish may occur, however this is considered normal wear. We recommend that rubber flooring be used.

Note: CEMCO Solid Steel Dumbbells are designed for years of heavy use and are the most durable, maintenance-free dumbbells in our industry. However, as with any dumbbells, they are not designed to be dropped, thrown or otherwise abused. Repeated dropping or other abuse of dumbbells may result in bent handles. Bent handles indicate abuse and may be excluded from our warranty. We strongly urge you to prevent your members from dropping, throwing or otherwise abusing your CEMCO Solid Steel Dumbbells. Maintaining a standard of responsible behavior in your free weight area will surely protect your equipment and more importantly your members.

OLYMPIC BARS: CEMCO Olympic Bars feature welded fittings and durable "Nylatron" bushings. "Nylatron" bushings DO NOT require lubrication. CEMCO Olympic Bar ends are assembled using a proprietary locking compound that forms a permanent seal. We recommend that you DO NOT tighten CEMCO Olympic Bars. Unnecessary tightening will break the permanent seal and cause the bar to loosen prematurely. For this reason, new bars that have been tightened may not be covered by our warranty. During normal use, CEMCO Olympic Bars are designed to retain their original shape after unloading. We strongly recommend that you DO NOT leave bars loaded when not in use.

PRO-STYLE DUMBBELLS: All fixed dumbbells come loose over time. Here's what to do to maintain them.
You will need: (2) 5/16" Allen Wrench
                     (2) Breaker Bar
                     (1) Loctite® Threadlocker Red or Blue
                     (1) Torque Wrench
Loosen the bolt(s) by using both breaker bars as leverage. With the breaker bars and the 5/16" allen wrenches in place, torque both breaker bars counter-clockwise in order to break seal.
This might take some strength. Once the bolt is out, remove the plates. Soak the handles and bolts in a degreaser or paint thinner, and/or with a wire brush remove any remaining locking compound from within the handle as well as the bolt. Remove the bolts and allow to dry completely. Use an air hose to blow out any remaining foreign matter or dirt that may be in the threads of handle and/or bolt. Computer duster can be a solution to this if no air hose is available. Use Locktite® Threadlocker Red or Blue. DO NOT USE SUBSTITUTES. THEY WILL NOT WORK! Apply Locktite® into the threads and tighten the bolt. You can use an air gun, but the final tightening must be done with a torque wrench. Set the torque wrench to 130 p.s.i. Use breaker bar for leverage and torque clockwise to tighten. Do not let the Locktite® set without completing the job. Once you start, you must finish or the Locktite® will set-up and you will be back to square one. You cannot be slow, you must work quickly. It is very important that these instructions are followed closely, otherwise the dumbbells will continue to loosen up. If you've followed these directions and the dumbbell is still loose, you might start thinking about a new purchase, perhaps a maintenance-free dumbbell.

Note: CEMCO Pro-Style Dumbbells are designed for years of heavy use and are extremely durable. However, as with any dumbbells, they are not designed to be dropped, thrown or otherwise abused.
